Leeds Castle Open Air Concert

With lockdown restrictions lifting, outdoor classical concerts are now being scheduled! Check out the various websites as plans may be subject to change. Other than that, plan your picnic and finally put a date in your diary.

Glyndeboure Festival

Glyndebourne’s summer opera series is scheduled to go ahead from 20 May to 29 August, with performances of Kata Kabanova, Cosi fan tutte,  Luisa Miller Il turco in Italia, and a semi-staged performance of Tristan and Isolde. There will also be a concert series from Glyndebourne’s resident orchestras, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. The auditorium will be limited to 600 – 50% of usual the usual seating capacity. All performances will offer the full Festival experience including a long interval with time to picnic and enjoy the gardens. The dress code is, as always, discretionary, but people do enjoy dressing up!

English National Opera

English National Opera will be performing a semi-staged performance of Tosca at Crystal Palace Bowl, South London. Large screens will also relay the performance and the large grass area in front of the stage will be a picnic area.

Stansted Park Proms Spectacular

Enjoy a great night of proms music at this spacious open-air venue. The evening will commence with a breath-taking 8000ft freefall parachute display by the British Army’s REME Lightning Bolts followed by a majestic spitfire display. Then sit back and enjoy all of your favourite proms music including the 1812 Overture, the Hornpipe, Land of Hope & Glory, Rule Britannia and Jerusalem along with a whole host of other fantastic classical pieces. The evening will end with a spectacular firework display

The Mikado at Stansted Park

Gilbert & Sullivan’s Magical Masterpiece The Mikado performed by Opera Anywhere at this spacious, ‘socially distance’ friendly open-air venue.

Opera Holland Park

For 2021, Opera Holland Park will be building a new auditorium. Making full use of the beautiful natural setting, and using reclaimed and sustainable materials, the new auditorium has been designed for Opera Holland Park by the award-winning set designer, takis. The seating capacity will be reduced from 1000 to 400 to allow for social distancing, customised flexible seating, enhanced personal space and a greater connection to the music and drama from the newly extended stage. This summer season will include performances of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Verdi’s La traviata, Mascagni’s L’amico Fritz, Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen and Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance.
