Leeds Castle Open Air Concert

Outdoor classical concerts are a lovely way to enjoy fantastic music in a beautiful setting. As the hampers and Champers season is fast approaching, here’s our selection of some of the best outdoor concerts in the UK.

Leeds Castle (Kent)

People have been enjoying this spectacular event at Leeds Castle for over 40 years. With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor, John Rigby, this year The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines will be playing the world premier of ‘A Tribute to Leeds Castle’ in celebration of 900 years of the Castle’s glorious history.

Battle Proms Picnic Concerts

The Battle Proms is a picnic concert series set in spectacular locations. The New English Concert Orchestra conducted by Douglas Coombes MBE will be playing classical favourites including Beethoven’s Battle Symphony with cannons. Expect a proms style finale with flag-waving and a dazzling firework display!

Outdoor concert

Bedford Park Proms

Bedford Park promises an evening of pomp and patriotism that the whole family can enjoy. There will be over 120 performers on stage along with a 70-piece choir and the London Gala orchestra, conducted by Stephen Bell.

BMW Classics

Trafalgar Square will once again be transformed into a giant music stage as Sir Simon Rattle and the London Symphony Orchestra present the BMW Classics. One hundred musicians from the LSO, as well as 55 young musicians from the LSO On Track programme in East London and 20 musicians from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama will be performing a dance-inspired programme featuring music by Dvořák, Poulenc and Ravel, plus a world premiere – Tuqus – by Bushra El-Turk.

Proms in the Park, Bournemouth

The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra presents its open-air concerts at Meyrick Park, Bournemouth, complete with fireworks, laser lights, and pyrotechnics.

Music on a Sunday

Whether you’re picnicking with friends, or taking a Summertime stroll, on selected Sundays you can enjoy music in the stunning surroundings of Audley End House & Garden (English Heritage).

Opera in the Gardens, Wimpole Estate

Eboracum Baroque perform Handel’s oratorio, Samson, in the Rectory Garden at Wipole (National Trust). Relax in the idyllic surroundings with a picnic.

The BP Big Screens 

The BP Big Screens are back this year with some of the world’s most popular operas and ballets broadcast live from the Royal Opera House. This summer three productions will be shown across the UK Romeo and Juliet on 11 June, Carmen on 2 July, and The Marriage of Figaro on 9 July. Screening in 23 different venues across the country from Swansea to Aberdeen, here’s the full list.

Kenwood House Open Air Concert

BBC Proms in the Park, Hyde Park, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland

Proms in the Park is part of the annual spectacular culmination of two months of music-making at the BBC Proms, as the world-famous Last Night celebrations spill out from London’s Royal Albert Hall and thousands of people come together at venues across the UK to be part of the magic of the Last Night.

Kneller Hall Concerts in the Park

Every year the Royal Military School of Music hosts a series of summer concerts that are open to the public.
