About

 Sophie Oliver

I am a fourth year undergraduate scholar at the Royal Academy of Music, London, studying the cello with Professor Jo Cole, Head of Strings. I enjoy a varied musical life as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, and have performed at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Fairfield Halls, Cadogan Hall and St John’s Smith Square, London. I also really enjoy working within the recording industry, and have provided soundtracks for film, commercials and albums.

After being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, I have a strong commitment to charity and outreach projects. I organised my own solo recital, raising funds for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and regularly contribute to JDRF’s ‘ArT1st’ campaign. I also recently worked in collaboration with Open Academy, running interactive music workshops with children in North London.

Aside from music, having come from a family of artists, photography is one of my great passions!  I also enjoy reading, going on country walks and cooking for friends and family.
